Aldemir Martins

Awarded the International Grand Prize for Drawing at the 1956 Venice Biennale, Aldemir Martins was also recognized for his skills in painting, ceramics, engraving, sculpture and jewelry. His artworks were invariably mounted using supports such as glass cream cheese pots, pizza packaging, cigar cases and soap boxes.


He was a prominent figure in the movement to shake up visual arts in Ceará, together with Antonio Bandeira and Mario Barata.
